Our Story

Who would’ve guessed that a Romanian boy born in 1983 in Bucharest and a Mexican girl born in 1987 in Cuernavaca would end up meeting far, far away from home?

In 2015, Raphael packed his bags and moved from Calgary to Montreal, chasing a better career. Meanwhile, Martha was on a quest for love so epic that she even embarked on the show "The Bachelor Canada" the year before—because why not search for romance on national television?

Little did she know, her soulmate was already en route from Cowtown (Calgary) while she was busy enjoying summer with her girlfriends and living the single life. They met, believe it or not, on Tinder: where dreams (and sometimes nightmares) come true. They matched on September 9, 2015, and just two days later, they embarked on their first date, proving that sometimes love is just a swipe away. Since then, they’ve been practically glued at the hip!

Martha had always dreamed of finding someone from a completely different culture who could speak both Spanish and French—because family is everything. So when Raphael casually mentioned he was fluent in both languages during their first date, it was like a romantic plot twist straight out of a movie! Their fate was sealed faster than you can say “soulmates.”

 

Fast forward eight incredible years, one big move, and three adorable dogs later, Raphael finally worked up the courage to pop the question on September 11, 2023. Spoiler alert: Martha said yes, and there may have been some happy tears!
